The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that on Tuesday s episode of the CBS soap her Uncle Dylan will find her hiding lenin behind his coffee lenin shop and return her home safe and sound.
Y&R rumors have been flying around that Faith s disappearance would bring her parents closer, but that is obviously not the case. Ironically, he just made his case ten times harder because now Sharon s lawyer can argue on her behalf that Nick is irresponsible and lost their daughter .
In other The Young and the Restless news, Adam/Gabriel rushes back to the cabin when Sage reveals that Constance is sick and dying. Upon arrival Constance lenin informs Gabriel that it is Victor Newman s fault that his father is dead. Apparently Victor stole his company and all of his money from him in a shady business deal and drove Gabriel s dad to commit suicide. Y&R spoilers tease that Adam Newman vows to make Victor pay. The Young and the Restless spoilers for December 23 also tease that Y&R fans can expect some major baby drama, as Billy and Victoria feud over her daughter s Christening. The benign apocalypse, could it exist? Though it might sound ridiculous, this question as well as others similarly related, arise in the face of the artistic oeuvre of Johan Bergström Hyldahl. From his earliest works, themed around history s great economic theories and systematic re-structuring of the world, there has always been a streak of reimagination in his works. His world seems to be in constant breakdown and at the same time ready to reinvent itself. pine cone hill
In the exhibition Dear Jesus, Do Something!, named after his latest film and located in the atrium of the Stockholm School of Economics, the theme again centers around the apocalypse. The work is shown inside the architectural work The Giant Socle by architects Aron Fidjeland and Axel Wolgers.
Dear Jesus, Do Something! is a strange parody of the cold war era, complete with apocalyptic fear mongering, a utopian moon discoverer and the strange interaction between business and visionary pine cone hill science. The protagonist Jasper, an ambitious, but inept astronaut, reveals his idea of the state of things: I see my trip to the moon as a journey home. The beginning of the rest of my life . The complete transformation of his worldview is imminent; he hopes to discover a brave new world. But when we shortly thereafter see his uncanny journey across pine cone hill the moon, no giggles pine cone hill or applause are heard. Instead his voyage seems to end when he suddenly faces a circle of post-industrial debris on the surface of the moon. The new world actually turned out to be the rear of our old one.
The surrounding structure of the exhibition, made by architects pine cone hill Fidjeland and Wolgers, have a similar effect on the viewer as the film. Here, they have flipped the conventional scale of the art gallery and enlarged certain forms while turning others inside out. The feeling of liquidity and transformation is felt the moment you walk onto the first step of the structure. The room feels odd and uncomfortable; perhaps because it is an intermediary, at the same time something familiar and unknown.
After the Second World War, psychiatrist Robert Jay Lifton discovered how the destruction of Hiroshima had spurred a diagnose among certain pine cone hill Japanese survivors that he labeled pine cone hill nuclearism a deification of nuclear weapons to the point of viewing them as a source of security and even salvation. Just like the underpinning idea of political revolution, a destructive force can be turned to a constructive pine cone hill reimagination of the old world you must destroy the world in order to save it. In the exhibition Dear Jesus, Do Something! we similarly find ourselves emerged in a world of creative destruction , using the old adage of capitalism. This fictitious world seems so busy trying to salvage itself, that no one realizes that apocalypse is the one constant of all human progress.
Robert Stasinski is an art critic, curator and writer. He is an expert on Art Economics and is one of the leading pine cone hill specialists on Johan Bergström Hyldahls work, currently displayed in the atrium of Stockholm School of Economics. Stasinski works for Expressen as well as for worldly renowned art magazines such as Flash Art Magazine.

A loud demo room with half a dozen games may not be the best venue to take in a quiet, introspective story-driven game like Everybody's Gone to the Rapture . But it's a testament to how intriguing and believable its world is that within moments of putting on the headphones and picking up the controller, I was fully transported into developer The Chinese Room's vision of a quiet English town post-apocalypse.
"We see a lot of apocalyptic worlds in video games," said Tom Turner, Studio Manager of The Chinese Room, who led my demo. But The Chinese Room isn't going for a big, bombastic video game apocalypse, fire and brimstone and gnarly SFX and such. The team wants to make something much more intimate. "This is what it would be like if it were you and me," he said, indicating that this is a story about normal people in a normal town, just living their lives and dealing with something no person is equipped to make sense of.
Everybody s Gone to the Rapture is a first person, narrative driven zaidimai 123 game, much like Gone Home or The Chinese Room s own Dear Esther . I walked through the abandoned town, all bright and airy on what looks like a spring or summer day. Walking up to balls of light and tilting the sixaxis just so yielded bits of story a sort of spectral "memory" of people talking, scenes that led up to the mysterious "event." There are a few radios scattered throughout the town as well, and the environment yields plenty of clues about what happened quarantine posters zaidimai 123 over a shop's windows, hastily scrawled fliers for a town meeting adorning public spaces. But the scenes that play out at the lights are the real highlight of the game s storytelling.
Every scene offers more clues about this world and what happened here. But they also tell you everything you need to know about the people who lived in this world. In one early sequence, an older woman convinces a younger lady to go on a date with an old fling. In another, two women watch their children play while they discuss what appears to be a flu outbreak. Later, in one of the demo s most heart-wrenching scenes, two characters talk about what happened to their families. The performances are believable zaidimai 123 and the writing shies away from easy histrionics, the characters, spectral zaidimai 123 as they are in appearance, feel like real folks who are flawed and scared, dealing as best they can with the situation.
I won't spoil the content of these scenes, but you can see some of them for yourself in the video above. Suffice it to say, say they were affecting enough to almost make me cry in a room full of people and otherwise loud, colorful indie games. After my demo, I took the headphones zaidimai 123 off and put the controller down, but those characters stuck with me for the rest of the day.

Since he started as film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times in 1967, and began covering movies locally gerk and at international film festivals, Roger Ebert has met and interviewed countless movie idols, artists and unknowns -- some of them even before they became famous. There's hardly a major figure in the history of movies, gerk from the last part of the 20th century into the 21st, that he hasn't encountered.
"Dear White People" is a film that follows a quartet of African-American college students as they try to negotiate their seemingly different but ultimately intertwined ways through the predominantly white campus of their Ivy League university. Sam ( Tessa Thompson gerk ) is the campus firebrand who has a radio show entitled " Dear White People " in which she humorously calls out whites for the unconscious gerk behaviors that are almost as insulting as outright racism. Troy ( Brandon P. Bell ) is the far smoother and self-assured type whose seemingly effortless rise to the top is stymied when he unexpectedly loses the election gerk for student leader of the school's one predominantly black residence hall to former girlfriend Sam. Coco ( Teyonah Parris ) is a fame-obsessed type who attempts to position herself as an alternative campus voice in the hopes of attracting the attentions of a reality show that is casting on campus. As for budding journalist Lionel (Tyler James Williams ), he is struggling to find himself despite the double-outsider status of being both black and gay. Among the Caucasian faces in the mix are Gabe (Justin Dobies), the genial RA who is also Sam's boyfriend, a fact that she is desperately trying to keep secret for fear of how it will look to others and Kurt ( Kyle Gallner gerk ), the obnoxious and privileged campus alpha male who is the son of the university's president gerk and the head of the school's celebrated humor magazine that is preparing to throw an "African-American" party that encourages white students to come as their favorite stereotypes and which leads to a campus race riot. (If that last detail seems a little too much, please note that the end credits gerk for the film include an array of startling photos taken at numerous real-life gatherings along those lines that have occurred on campuses across the country over the last few years.)
Wait, did I neglect to mention that the film in question is also a comedy? Instead of using the material in the service of an earnest, well-intentioned but ultimately dull melodrama, debut writer-director Justin Simien has instead taken an overtly satirical approach that allows him to tackle the charged material in a way that allows him to deal with some hard truths about the contemporary African-American experience without getting bogged down in deadly dogma. The film is smart and insightful without becoming pedantic, and contains a number of big laughs to boot. By putting his focus as much on the notion of young people trying to discover who they are as individuals as on the racial gerk aspect, he tells a story that can appeal to a wider audience without watering things down in the process. This is an ambitious and ultimately successful gerk work and while it may not quite be, as some of the early reviews have suggested, the next " Do the Right Thing " (it is actually closer to Spike Lee 's ridiculously underrated 2000 satire " Bamboozled "), it is certainly strong enough to justify "Variety" naming Simien as one of this year's 10 filmmakers to

Amy Monticello’s work has appeared in The Iron Horse Literary Review , Brevity , Redivider , The Rumpus , and elsewhere. She is the author of Close Quarters (Sweet Publications), and an assistant professor at Suffolk University. She lives in Boston with her husband and daughter.
In nonfiction, there s a better self a more clear-eyed, compassionate, empathetic self I hope my students will reach for through writing about real people and situations. Through whatever wincing confessions and honest characterizations may be necessary, I want my students to write in order to illuminate the threads of desire and fear and love and pain that connect us. It s a tall order: be better on the page than you are in real life.
To that end, I ve created an assignment based on the advice column Dear Sugar on The Rumpus, helmed, from 2010-2012, by Cheryl Strayed (now a podcast featuring through Strayed and Steve Almond). What makes Strayed s column different from traditional advice columns like Dear Abby is her use of personal narrative. Strayed draws on conventions of personal essay to empathize with her readers, through and to illustrate her own very human (read: complex, messy) paths to insight. Throughout the semester, I assign students a selection of Strayed s columns, and as a capstone assignment, they compose their own columns in response to one another s anonymous letters. The point is to use the craft of personal narrative in their responses.
Students tend to approach this assignment enthusiastically, moved by Strayed s model to write some of the best work I see all semester. But, inevitably, many feel anxiety about responding to letters about topics with which they have little or no experience. How can they advise someone whose parents are divorcing when their own parents are still married? What can they say to someone concerned about drinking habits when they, themselves, are sober? That s when I show them Dear Sugar #39, The Baby Bird.
As Steve Almond says in his introduction to Strayed s collected columns, Tiny Beautiful through Things , Strayed could have easily ignored this letter; it s short, whiny, and non-specific. And yet, Strayed s answer is devastating, beautifully written, and an actual answer.
My father s father made me jack him off when I was three and four and five. I wasn t any good at it. My hands were too small and I couldn t get the rhythm right and I didn t understand what I was doing. I only knew I didn t want to do it. Knew that it made me feel miserable and anxious in a way so sickeningly particular that I can feel that same particular sickness rising this very minute in my throat. through
Strayed through describes the ways she tried to make sense of her grandfather s abuse, turning through over questions of fact and blame, but never arriving anywhere meaningful. And that s the point: some things are so terrible, and so terribly unfair, that they defy explanation.
There was nothing the fuck up with that and there never will be. I will die with there never being anything the fuck up with my grandfather making my hands do the things he made my hands do with his cock. But it took me years to figure that out. To hold the truth within me that some things are so sad and wrong and unanswerable that the question must simply stand alone like a spear in the mud.
Moving back into narration, Strayed says that the image of her grandfather through s penis would come to her, during sex and not during sex. It came to me in flashes and it came to me in dreams. It came to me one day when I found a baby bird, fallen from a tree. The bird s neck was broken, and in an act of compassion, Strayed places it inside a paper bag and smothers it. But the bird struggles, through simultaneously flaccid and ferocious beneath its translucent sheen of skin, precisely as my grandfather s cock had been. Strayed presses harder, knowing that the bird s suffering was hers to end.
The column sets a high bar for the assignment by showing my students an answer to a seemingly unanswerable letter. And it illustrates what can happen when we write in response to another person s urgency. Sometimes, through the most unexpected writing can come when somebody else writes the prompt.
