A series of scientific studies indicated that effectively cleaned carpets can reduce airborne allergens, making it a viable choice for families impacted by allergies and asthma. Basically, the long and the short of it is thus: Dust collects in homes, regardless of the types of floors you have. How you control that dust has a big impacts on the health of the people living in the home. In the study cited above, result indicated that carpets trap allergens to a greater extent than hard surface floors, resulting in fewer particles escaping into the air. The allergens, once trapped or captured in the carpet fibres do not return to the air which is breathed by people working or living in the environment. The study also found that effective carpet cleaning , such as using a vacuum with high efficiency filter, and hot water extraction including steam-cleaning not only cleaned the carpet vellux blanket of trapped allergens, but also improved the indoor air quality by reducing the airborne allergens.
